Somerset Scythe School
Somerset Scythe School is here to teach and promote the use of the truly wonderful tool that is the scythe.
Quieter, more efficient and easier to use than a strimmer, the scythe is making a comeback.
Rural or urban, gardens, wildflower meadows, verges, ditches and riverbanks, graveyards, woodlands, hills and marshes: the scythe can work well anywhere and everywhere.
What's more it requires no fossil fuels, leaves no pollutants, makes (almost) no noise, it keeps you fit and it's great fun!
Age 7 to 87+ you can learn to use a scythe.
My name is Andi Rickard and I was national scything champion from 2019 to 2022 and ladies champion 2010 - 2025.
I have been using a scythe since 2009 and teaching others since 2012.
I am a teaching member of the Scythe Association of Britain and Ireland
