About this event

This 6 week course is a place to RECHARGE YOU through weaving of somatic practice, polyvagal exercises, free movement, nature’s teachings, simple compassionate guidance, inspiring music and authentic connection in community.

Embodiment website

It is so important to pause, dance and recharge particularly in these unique times where there is so much change, noise, conflicting opinions and environments of distress. This is a space to exhale, shake off and tune into the deeper sanity of nature's rhythms.

This is all about meeting these times resourced and self connected, rather than from a self protective posture. You will be given simple, short practices to tone your nervous system (like toning muscles) towards empowered relaxation through the lens of the Polyvagal perspective of Deb Dana and Dr. Porges.

GUIDED MOVEMENT MEDICINE RECORDINGS

30-minute guided recording ‘Awaken the Dancer' freedom to move from within and develop somatic interoception

30-minute guided recording ‘Elements' teachings and inspirations from nature

30-minute guided recording ‘MESA PRACTICE’ Practice of presence and connection

20-min guided recording ‘Polyvagal Movement Medicine practice for toning the nervous system

5 min Polyvagal breathing practice guided recording for relaxation

5 min Polyvagal breathing practice guided recording for energising

5 min Polyvagal breathing practice guided recording for balance

10 min Polyvagal somatic bio-energetic shaking practice guided recording

This course will contain:

Resources of connection to somatic intelligence and medicine of movement

The natural biorhythm cycles of the year with an Spring Equinox ceremony

The shamanic wisdom of nature's teachings

Science backed efficacy of Polyvagal practices to tone your nervous system

The vibrant inspiration and alongsideness of a small community to explore the power of practice

The power of practice will be woven through this 6 week journey with a daily challenge to dance together everyday or solo in your own time to really take ownership of your innate capacity for living these times as a dancer.

Ancient breathing techniques that can have a profound effect on self regulation that are simple to learn

Many people who have practiced these techniques say that they feel transformed, and they never would have imagined that something so simple could be so effective. Through movement, breathing, and polyvagal techniques, you will learn to:

BACKGROUND

This collective journey will be intentionally small, open to 30 dancers. No prerequisites or previous experience in Movement Medicine is required. Whatever your background, culture, race, gender, condition, age, or circumstances you are very welcome to register. David’s intention is to create an intimate space for dancers to feel held, safe, and heard, to learn, practice, and strengthen deep and healing processes to help support and creatively resource you in the present time and beyond.

THE INVITATION

This collective journey will be intentionally small, open to 30 dancers max. No prerequisites or previous experience in Movement Medicine is required.

Whatever your background, culture, race, gender, condition, age, or circumstances you are very welcome to register. David’s intention is to create an intimate space for dancers to feel held, safe, and heard, to learn, practice, and strengthen deep and healing processes to help support and creatively resource you in the present time and beyond.

The intention of this journey is to reconnect you to the wisdom of living from the heart and will deepen your connection to yourself, your creativity and integrity as well as enliven your relationship with life on all levels. Movement Medicine has roots in indigenous shamanic wisdom as well as contemporary therapeutic pathways such as Gestalt and latest developments in Neuroscience.

Together, we will create a supportive community to journey together. There will be support groups, inter-module exercises and guided recorded practices so you can integrate these practices into your life and have the freedom and empowerment of self-leadership.

ABOUT DAVID MOONEY

David Mooney is a trained and qualified Movement Medicine Teacher and supervisor. He has been teaching Movement Medicine throughout Europe and in America for 11 years and has been dancing various forms of conscious dance practices for the past 15 years.

David is also a fully qualified and practicing psychotherapist, professional mentor and supervisor, and has a passion for shamanic and therapeutic pathways. He recently completed a year long Polyvagal training with Deb Dana. He is also a trained in Internal Family Systems.
