In deze sessie krijg je niet alleen technische tips en tricks, maar ook waardevolle inzichten over het werken met een diverse groep dansers. Dalton is een meester in het begeleiden van zowel amateurs als professionele dansers en weet als geen ander hoe je een groep kunt inspireren. Hij leert je hoe je jongeren motiveert, hen een boost van zelfvertrouwen geeft en hen van start tot uitvoering begeleidt in hun dansreis.

Docent
Dalton Jansen (Rotterdam, 1993) is een gedreven choreograaf en maker met een sterk ondernemende geest. Zijn werk beweegt zich op het snijvlak van hiphop, contemporary, breakdance en spoken word. Al vroeg in zijn carrière viel hij op: in 2014 won hij de publieksprijs bij het Rotterdams Open Podium en in 2015 sleepte hij samen met Gihan Koster en Terencio Douw van The Double Collective zowel de jury- als publieksprijs in de wacht tijdens Fanatics in Rotterdam. Met The Double Collective won hij bovendien de internationale Hip Hop Games in Frankrijk, een competitie die samenwerkt met onder andere Summer Dance Forever.
Na zijn afstuderen aan de opleiding Urban Contemporary (JMD) aan de Amsterdamse Hogeschool voor de Kunsten richtte hij zijn eigen platform Dalton Jansen Choreography op, waarmee hij meerdere dansvoorstellingen maakte. Onder de vleugels van Productiehuis TR presenteerde hij onder andere het indrukwekkende drieluik To The Edge.
In 2024 werd zijn werk bekroond met de Charlotte Köhler Theaterprijs van het Cultuurfonds – een bijzondere erkenning van zijn talent en inzet.
In 2021 richtte hij zijn eigen dansgezelschap BLACK BIRDS op in Rotterdam-West. Met dit gezelschap creëert hij ruimte voor jong talent en biedt hij kansen aan jongeren die opgroeien in kwetsbare sociaal-maatschappelijke omstandigheden. “Zij weten vaak zelf niet hoe goed ze zijn. Samen iets creëren in co-creatie en zo een stukje bijdragen aan hun ontwikkeling geeft me ontzettend veel voldoening,” aldus Dalton.

In this session, you’ll receive not only technical tips and tricks but also valuable insights into working with a diverse group of dancers. Dalton is a master at guiding both amateur and professional dancers and knows better than anyone how to inspire a group. He will teach you how to motivate young people, boost their self-confidence, and guide them from start to performance in their dance journey.

Teacher
Dalton Jansen (Rotterdam, 1993) is a passionate choreographer and creator with a strong entrepreneurial spirit. His work sits at the intersection of hip-hop, contemporary, breakdance, and spoken word. He stood out early in his career: in 2014, he won the audience award at the Rotterdams Open Podium, and in 2015, together with Gihan Koster and Terencio Douw of The Double Collective, he won both the jury and audience awards at Fanatics in Rotterdam. With The Double Collective, he also won the international Hip Hop Games in France, a competition that collaborates with events such as Summer Dance Forever.
After graduating from the Urban Contemporary (JMD) program at the Amsterdam University of the Arts, he founded his own platform, Dalton Jansen Choreography, through which he created multiple dance performances. Under the wing of Productiehuis TR, he presented, among others, the powerful triptych To The Edge.
In 2024, his work was awarded the Charlotte Köhler Theater Prize by the Cultuurfonds – a special recognition of his talent and dedication.
In 2021, he founded his own dance company BLACK BIRDS in Rotterdam-West. With this company, he creates opportunities for young talent and supports youths growing up in vulnerable socio-economic circumstances. “They often don’t know how good they really are. Creating something together in co-creation and contributing to their development gives me a great sense of fulfillment,” says Dalton.
