As part of the Psychedelic Society Belgium’s free webinar series, this event supports our mission to foster accessible, thoughtful, and evidence-based dialogue around psychedelic science, therapy, culture, and society.In this webinar, we welcome Ivar W. Goksøyr, clinical psychologist, co-founder of the mental health clinic Psykologvirke, and researcher and certified MDMA therapist at Psykforsk – Innovative Treatment Research, Østfold Hospital Trust. He has acted as lead therapist in two clinical trials on MDMA-assisted therapy, including the world’s first trial on MDMA-assisted therapy for depression. He is also involved in the international training of MDMA therapists and received The Nordic Psychedelic Therapist Award in 2025.Ivar will present the Norwegian Empathogen-Assisted Therapist Development project (NEAT-DP), which explores whether many therapists can be understood as “wounded healers”, and whether supporting their own healing process may enhance both personal wellbeing and professional functioning.The webinar will introduce Empathogen-Assisted Therapist Development and wellbeing (EATD) as a structured, group-based personal and professional development programme integrating MDMA-assisted therapy within a broader developmental framework. The project examines how unresolved wounds may contribute to stress, countertransference difficulties, and reduced sustainability in practice, while conscious therapeutic work may foster greater resilience, relational depth, and clinical effectiveness.Drawing on mixed methods research, the study investigates the safety, feasibility, and potential utility of this approach, seeking to connect inner therapeutic change with measurable professional outcomes.This event will be of interest to therapists, clinicians, researchers, students, and anyone curious about emerging questions in therapist development, wellbeing, and psychedelic research.
