We’re kicking off the festival with a musical evening that’s all about connection between styles, between musicians, and between audience and place.
You’ll hear Beethoven in a lively, chamber setting that feels both intimate and grand, followed by Bartók’s irresistibly colorful Romanian Dances. There’s Vivaldi at his most wild and imaginative in La Folia, and Boccherini’s joyful duos that let the cellos sing to each other.
We also bring you some surprises: scenes of southern Spain in Turina’s Scènes Andalouses, the unexpected textures of Gareth Lubbe’s diphonic chants, and a few of Florian Noack’s masterful transcriptions that breathe new life into familiar music.
It’s a bit of a musical road trip through Europe, across genres, and into the spirit of the festival.
