About this event
In 2019 we conducted in depth research on effective practices for distributed and remote work as part of our efforts to accelerate the transition to a zero-carbon economy. In this 20 minute online event Edgeryders will present our research insights around five key areas of good practice: communication, collaboration, socialising, tools and organisation building.
Remote work can provide healthy distance during the COVID-19 pandemic and also helps to minimise an organisation’s greenhouse gas emissions. But becoming an efficient distributed organisation is not an easy feat. We at Edgeryders have been a distributed organisation for a long time. But, even we have to continuously improve our own practices and support others to do the same.
When covid hit, everyone who could moved their work online but in ways that increased, rather than decreased ill being during an already difficult time. Set against a background of discussions around the interplay of networked technologies on wellbeing of workers, society and planet at large, several discussions emerged around topics like automation, surveillance and freedom.
So we decided to research we had done in the past on effective practices for distributed and remote work. More specifically the 2019 work had done collaboration with EIT Climate Kic, Europe’s leading Knowledge and Innovation Community (KIC) working to accelerate the transition to a zero-carbon economy. Present it to the community during an event, and help us all further our understanding of next generation internet technologies and the future of work.
After this event we will pull together everything we have learned into a format that is accessible, and easy to use right now to improve the situation. A short booklet we will title "The Anywhere Organisation".
This event is a friendly space to share and discuss your findings, experiences and good practices with distributed collaboration. And what we can learn from it about using networked technologies to support healthy, happy and resilient workplaces.
Edgeryders co-founders Matthias Ansorg and Nadia EL-Imam will provide some scaffolding for that discussion through a brief overview of what we have learned around running effective distributed teams and organisations so far.
