About this event

Join us for an intimate talk with Emeka Okereke and Giya Makondo-Wills on their art practice and strategies for changemaking.

This conversation is part of MINO LAB; an annual residency for emerging makers who create from a sense of urgency to make an impact and engage with social change at large.

Emeka Okereke is a Nigerian visual artist, writer and DJ, who lives and works between Lagos and Berlin. He’s a past member of the renowned Nigerian photography collective Depth of Field (DOF) and the founder of Invisible Borders. His work has been exhibited in art festivals all over the world including the 56th Venice Biennale. Okereke's work oscillates between diverse mediums, employing photography, video, poetry and performative interventions in the exploration of one overarching theme: that of borders.

Giya Makondo-Wills is a British-South African documentary photographer, who lives and works between the U.K and The Netherlands. Her work looks at identity, race, colonisation, the western gaze and systems of power. She was nominated for the 2019 World Press Photo Joop Swart Masterclass and in 2018 selected as one of the '31 women to watch out for' by the British Journal of Photography.
