Linocut Workshop: Create Your Own Monogram

BOOK SPACE invites all lovers of graphic art, typography, and handmade techniques to a linocut workshop with Czech graphic artist Barbora Kramná. Join the creator of BOOK SPACE's visual identity as she takes you on a journey into the world of fonts, printing, and paper, and try your hand at creating your own print.

During the workshop, you will learn the basics of the traditional graphic technique of linocut and create your own initial design – a letter that can symbolize you. Each participant will carve their initial and print it on paper (provided on site) or on fabric they bring (a bag, scarf, or T-shirt*).

Barbora Kramná is one of the successful figures of the young Czech graphic design scene. In 2024, she won the main prize of the National Student Design Award for her diploma thesis Staročeská bastarda Kroniky Trojánské (Old Czech Bastarda Kroniky Trojánské), in which she revived the historical Gothic font and transferred it into a contemporary context. Her work with fonts and printing is also reflected in the BOOK SPACE project, for which she created the visual identity, including the original font. One of the many beautiful books presented by BOOK SPACE is her own book, Femme.

*A quality artistic paper is provided for prints on paper, as well as all other materials, and a cup of coffee ;) The fabric paint is also provided for the textile materials that you'll bring (please be aware of the fact that not all fabrics are ideal for printing - if hesitating, drop us a message at ccbrussels@czechcentres.cz)
