About this event

  • 2 hours 30 minutes

Join us at Eurobike for an informative session on standardization for light electric vehicles (LEVs), hosted by LEVA-EU and SBS. The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, July 4th, in Meeting Room Symmetrie, Hall 8.1.

In previous years, non-LEVA-EU members were required to pay for entry, but thanks to the support of SBS, participation is free for everyone this year. The session begins at 11:45 am and will conclude no later than 2:15 pm, with a modest lunch provided. To ensure ample food and drinks, registration on this website is required.

While the full agenda will be released soon, we can already confirm discussions on the revisions of EN 15194, the upcoming EN 17860 standards for electric cargo cycles, as well as updates on e-scooters and self-balancing standards in IEC TC125 and TC 354. We’ll also delve into the impact of the new Machinery Regulation on standards and discuss new battery standards resulting from the Battery Regulation. Additionally, we’ll explain how you can participate actively or passively in the standardization process.

This information session at Eurobike, actively supported by SBS, is made possible by a partnership agreement between SBS and the European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA), promoting SMEs’ interests in European standardization.

Small Business Standards (SBS) is the voice of European Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) in standardisation. Eddie Eccleston, LEVA-EU’s board member, has been serving as an SBS-expert for several years in TC333, particularly in WG5 for EPACs and WG9 for e-cargocycles.

If you can’t attend, don’t worry. We’ll host similar sessions online in the fall, three times in fact. Dates for the webinars will be announced post-Eurobike. In preparation, LEVA-EU is also compiling an extensive briefing on standardization. Stay tuned for more details.

LEVA-EU is the only trade association in Europe to work exclusively for light, electric vehicles (LEVs).

At LEVA-EU, we have a deep belief in the importance of LEVs for sustainable mobility. LEVs are the most sustainable modes of motorised transport in urban areas, both for the transport of people and goods.

To promote the market uptake and deployment of LEVs, LEVA-EU guides LEV-companies through the maze of rules and regulations governing the vehicles. A better understanding of these rules and regulations facilitates the market access and development of LEV-businesses. In turn, the EU-market benefits from a more varied and high-quality LEV-offer.

Unfortunately, the rules and regulations are sometimes outdated or inaccurate and therefore create legal bottlenecks for the LEV-community. LEVA-EU has a direct line with EU decision-makers to negotiate improvement of the rules. LEVA-EU is also in contact with national decision-makers to exchange information on best practice.

LEVA-EU also works pro-actively and gives its members a voice in European LEV advocacy. We monitor all EU legislation and policy-making that may be relevant to LEV-companies. In consultation with our members, we select those issues that are most relevant to the LEV-business and we develop and implement a European advocacy strategy.
