In the dynamic world of interconnected challenges, successful negotiation becomes the cornerstone of advancing your organization's interests. In order to achieve that, advocacy is an integral part of the daily work of many civil society organizations. For this, they are relying heavily on their advocacy and/or policy officers to bring the aims of a NGO to the political level. Having people that know how make your organisations' interests are met and find a win-win situation with policy makers is a crucial competence to further your agenda and ultimatly make a lasting impact on our community.

Interest Based Negotiation (IBN) is a proven and reliable method for creating mutually beneficial outcomes. By focussing on underlying interests and creating value for each other during the negotion, rather than focussing on the positions, IBN has the power to change the dynamics of a conversation and lead to meaningful and widespread agreement.

Whether you are an advocacy, policy officer or someone passionate about positive societal changes, this training will equip you with the essential skills and strategies needed to navigate the intricate landscape of policy advocacy and collaboration in Europe.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

At the end of the 2 days you:

  • Are able to create a collaborative negotiation environment;
  • You can apply the different steps of Interest Based Negotiation in practice;
  • You can leverage opportunities for growth by managing disagreements and conflicts effectively;
  • You aware of your own patterns that jeopardize collaboration and know what you can do to reverse them.

PROGRAMME

Day 1: On the first day, we will experience how we approach negotiations in different ways and we will work intensively on a step-by-step plan for Interest Based Negotiation. We will provide both a theoretical framework and practical exercises to transform the new knowledge into a useful tool.

Day 2: During the second day, we dive deeper into the (personal) competencies required to achieve a constructive solution during negotiations that adds value for both yourself and the other involved parties.
