Overview

Join leading experts and policymakers to discuss how Europe can strengthen immunisation programmes and respond to immunosenescence.

Save the date!

MEP András Kulja and MEP Vytenis Andriukaitis have the pleasure of inviting you to “Immunisation and Healthy Ageing: Ensuring Effective Vaccination Programmes for an Ageing Europe.” This public debate will explore the public health challenge posed by immunosenescence – the age-related decline in immune function – and launch the International Longevity Centre’s report on “Supporting our systems: Addressing immunosenescence and improving adult immunisation in Europe”.

This report examines the link between adult immunisation programmes and healthy ageing in Europe and explores policy options to strengthen the health, economic and social benefits of immunisation in the future.

With one-third of EU citizens projected to be over the age of 65 by 2100, addressing immunosenescence is set to become an increasingly urgent issue. An ageing population is at greater risk for severe outcomes for infectious diseases like influenza and COVID-19.

The event will seek to provide further insights into the challenges created by immunosenescence, reflecting on how policymakers can respond effectively to strengthen and future-proof immunisation programmes across Europe.

Join leading experts and policymakers to discuss how Europe can strengthen immunisation programmes and to reflect on how to effectively respond to the challenge of immunosenescence.
