The heart of every great story lies in the relationships between its characters — and the more compelling the characters, the stronger that heartbeat. In this course, we’ll begin by developing the tools to create rich, multidimensional, and relatable characters. From there, we’ll explore how to build authentic relationships that can sustain and drive character-led narratives. Subtext, intentions, and motivations will be our guides as we move from spontaneous moments to fully realized story arcs.
Whether you have experience in narrative improvisation or are just beginning to explore the form, this course will strengthen your character work and deepen your ability to create grounded, engaging stories.
You will focus on:
- Crafting distinct, relatable characters with clear motivations and emotional depth
- Establishing meaningful relationships through shared experiences, emotional truth, and subtext
- Making bold, story-driven choices that serve both the moment and the broader narrative arc
- Building ensemble trust and supporting scene partners to create cohesive, character-driven worlds
Come ready to explore, connect, and discover the stories that emerge when strangers become something more.
