FARI2025: Rethinking AI Safety in the Public Interest

This event takes place on Tuesday 18 November 2025 at 09:30 at BeCentral in Brussels, and is organized by Global AI Policy Research Network (represented by Delft University of Technology and Uniarts Research Institute).

Room: The Classroom, 2nd floor

About the event

AI Safety has become the focus of recent deliberations and reports, spurred by the rapid uptake of generative AI models and robotic agents.

However, it is often framed via a narrow technical definition, rather than the social and institutional contexts that shape- and are shaped by- systems and agents.

This half-day interactive workshop will advance notions of AI Safety from a sociotechnical systems perspective to inform a research and action agenda working towards a Public Interest AI Safety Ecosystem.

The Global AI Policy Research Network is a community of practice that serves as a platform for researchers and practitioners to advance responsible AI policy research and actionable strategies. A core objective of the network is to inform global approaches to AI governance by sharing best practices and fostering collaborative AI policy development. The network was established following the inaugural 2024 Summit in Stockholm; a second Summit took place in Delft in November 2025.

This event is held as part of the FARI Brussels Conference 2025 under the theme “AI, Robots, and Us: Living with Intelligent Agents?” - Partners Day.

Extend your visit - arrive early or stay longer after the session to immerse yourself in the world of AI and meet us.

Our infrastructures are open to visitors the whole day!

Discover our FARI’s Test & Experience Center and explore interactive installations, playful prototypes, and real-world research on robotics, data, and algorithmic systems. Or step into the CAVE, Belgium’s largest Computer Augmented Virtual Environment. This immersive space makes complex AI scenarios tangible, showing how virtual simulations support urban planning, mobility, healthcare, and more. A rare opportunity to see how data-driven insights are shaping the decisions of tomorrow.

This day is also the opportunity to meet the FARI team at our booth and learn more about our hubs and initiatives.
