Room: Google Atelier, First Floor
About the event:
- Part 1 — AI Regulatory Sandboxes and innovation: towards the Implementation of the AI Act
EU AI Governance and Innovation Ecosystem Member(s) of the AI Office at DG CNECT, European Commission, will present the EU’s comprehensive approach to AI governance and its innovation ecosystem. This presentation will align with broader European Commission priorities and policies, highlighting initiatives designed to position Europe as an AI-driven continent.
A central focus will be the implementation of the EU AI Act, particularly AI regulatory sandboxes, which aim to foster innovation while ensuring compliance, with particular regards to collaboration with the EU AI initiatives in support of innovation.
The session will explore how these frameworks and tools can create an environment where innovation thrives, supported by robust governance, stakeholder collaboration, and a commitment to aligning AI development with the EU’s strategic vision.
- Part 2 — Building Trust and Coordination: Transparency and Regulatory Interplay Across AI Sandboxes
This session will examine how AI regulatory sandboxes can promote trust, transparency, and coordinated governance across EU frameworks. It will explore the interplay between the AI Act, the CRA and the IEA, the latter of which has introduced its own implementing act on sandboxes. The session will also present a study on how the European framework could enable collaboration, mutual learning, and institutional trust — all of which are key pillars for the effective and responsible experimentation with AI.
