ABOUT THE MODERATOR
Edit Lakatos, founder of Tulipane Design.
"Raised in the Hungarian countryside, I learnt sewing, crochet and traditional bead weaving. As weaving was my main interest, I particularly liked bead weaving.
Now that I live in Belgium, the African style fascinates me as much as the Hungarian folk style. With my work, I want to offer a delicate blend of Eastern Europe and Africa.
The motifs are created and woven bead by bead. It's a work of patience and a kind of meditation: the beads take time to weave.
Through my childhood trauma with a violent father, I realised that creating is a crucial activity for finding my balance and well-being, and I think I'm not alone in this. That's why my aim is not only to share my creations with other women but also to contribute to a social impact. Tulipane Design contributes 1€/jewel sold to the Centre de prevention contre la Violence Domestique in Belgium.'
