MATRIMONY DAYS 2025 / Without reserve #2 : 9 women artists from our heritage - Guided tour in the collections of the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium
As part of the Matrimony Days, the Museums invite you to discover the work of women artists and the legacy they’ve left us. The visit highlights the variety and richness of their artistic production, as well as their important and original contributions to the art of their time and to art history. You’ll see, among others: old paintings by Catharina Van Hemessen and Rachel Ruysch, works on paper by Mig Quinet and Geneviève Rimbout, and recent acquisitions by Evelyne Axell, Tjawina Porter Nampitjinpa, Ann Veronica Janssens, Liliane Vertessen, and Rachel Labastie.
The Museum's mission is not only to conserve works of art, but also to carry out research and provide information for the public. Their collections trace the history of the plastic arts - painting, sculpture and drawing - from the 15th to the 21st century. The “Gender” federal research project, led by Audrey Lasserre, is designed to encourage reflection on the issues and representations of “gender” (social sexes and sexualities) in art and the museum.
This activity takes place in English at the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium, Regency Street 3, 1000 Brussels.
Access for persons with reduced mobility is via Regency Street 1A.
