Description

Dear friends and colleagues,

We are pleased to invite you to the launch event of AI4good, an initiative that is part of the national AI4Belgium plan.

The official AI4Belgium plan was officially kicked off in March 2019 by a group of experts. Since then the coalition has been expanding.

First working groups on "AI and Ethics" and on “AI and Health” were established, whose work resulted in the development of a strong agenda on these important issues, central to any sustainable AI plan and strategy.

The goal now is to take the conversation to the next level with the launch of AI4Good. The objective is to create a national and European ecosystem focused on the challenges and opportunities of artificial intelligence to solve social and economic issues for the common good. The aim is to shape an ambitious and committed agenda on issues as broad as education, research and policy involving civil society and private actors.

This initiative will strongly engage the different relevant stakeholders on these issues:

  • Universities with the aim of optimizing the fruits of research and education programs on these issues.

  • Private sector with the aim of regulating and simplifying the sector known for its complexity; thereby providing a framework promoting innovative business models centered on the social good

  • Public sector with the aim of effectively channeling interesting initiatives and generating a broad public impact

AI4Good is not about philanthropy, but about building a supportive environment for achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGS) and encouraging the creation of social and economic value.

The preliminary objective on our roadmap is to focus on three main pillars:

  • Bringing together a core group of stakeholders willing to develop a strategic agenda for AI4Good in Belgium, involving the different regions and ensuring that the country is part of a wider European agenda.

  • Identify a list of priority topics (e.g. use cases) to channel efforts, create momentum and position Belgium at the forefront of social and economic impact.

  • Define a list of milestones (e.g. funding, policy support, communication processes) to be put in place that would enable or accelerate the development of AI4Good in Belgium.

As part of the Belgian innovative ecosystem, we are pleased to invite you to a roundtable/event to discuss about the aforementioned objectives

Agenda (lunch included):
