AI4Belgium - International and European developments on ethical & legal AI
Event Information
About this event
In October of 2020, the AI4Belgium Ethics & Law working group organized an online session to update the Belgian AI ecosystem on a range of activities around ethics and law in the field of AI. During this session there were contributions from various international organizations, including the European Commission, the Council of Europe and UNESCO.
Over a year later, these different initiatives have moved forward. With this webinar, we therefore like to provide an opportunity for these organizations to share this information with all of you, given their relevance for the Belgian AI ecosystem.
We will discuss the progress of the European Commission’s proposal for an AI Act, published in April 2021, which is currently going through a first reading in the Council and the Parliament. Furthermore, in November 2021, UNESCO member states adopted the first ever global recommendation on the ethics of AI, which presents an important milestone for the global AI community. Finally, in December 2021, the Council of Europe’s CAHAI adopted possible elements of a legal framework on artificial intelligence, based on the Council of Europe’s standards on human rights, democracy and the rule of law, which will likewise be presented and discussed. After presentations from each of these respective organizations, some time will be foreseen for a Q&A.
Detailled agenda to follow soon.
