SPACE
Shia Professional Association for Creativity and Education aims to create space in:
1. Education: There is a lack of platforms in North America that assist in guiding and mentoring Shia students and graduates to navigate their academic and religious needs. We aim to create academic platforms that include workshops on deciding majors and research and internship opportunities, which helps students mold their future pathways. Not only, but we aim to assist with religious needs including the demand for informational workshops and events that address the problems Shia youth face in the 21st century; one-on-one meetings with religious mentors; and English resources aimed at solidifying the identity and daily practices of Shia youth.
2. Creativity: In a world of inter-connected cultures and expressions, there is a dire demand for Shia youth to nurture creativity. We aim to be the SPACE in which our members can their own unique expressions in the areas of social media, digital entertainment, classic arts, literature, and other fields all while centering Islamic values in their work.
3. Professionalism: As an underrepresented minority, many Shia Muslim youth often lack the resources to exceed professionally. We hope to assist in developing the social capital to exceed including the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals in their fields; network with career-oriented peers; and obtain future employment opportunities to succeed.
