How to Be a Strong Woman

Monica Hsueh is an award-nominated comedian, writer, and actor, bringing sharp wit and an unflappable persona to stages across the UK.

Monica moved from Taiwan to the UK at 13 and soon realised that laughter was the key to bridging cultures and connecting with people. What began as an open-mic dare has evolved into a dynamic stage presence, defined by bold bravado, self-deprecation, razor-sharp jokes and an infectious curiosity about multicultural life.

She has performed at top venues across the country, including Backyard Comedy Club, Angel Comedy Club, The Glee Club, Komedia Brighton, and even guest-spotted at The Comedy Store.

Online, her Strong Woman sketch series has amassed over 10 million views, brilliantly satirising everything from sibling battles to the universal love of chicken balls.

In 2024, Monica reached the finals of multiple prestigious comedy competitions, including British Comedian of the Year, Leicester Square New Comedian of the Year, Bath Comedy Festival New Act, and Chichester Fringe New Act.

Beyond the stage, she has taken supporting roles in Guy Ritchie's Mob Land and Netflix’s Black Dove. She frequently speaks on panels championing the importance of diverse voices in comedy.

This summer, Monica makes her solo London debut with her hour-long show, How to Be a Strong Woman in One Hour, exploring identity, belonging, and what truly made her a strong woman.
