Precious Wings: Supporting Families Through Loss

Since our founding in 2013, Precious Wings has grown from supporting a single hospital - Mater Mothers in Brisbane - to partnering with 58 hospitals across Queensland, 12 major funeral homes, coronial services, Hummingbird House children’s hospice, and various community and adult palliative care services.

Driven by a small, dedicated team who balance professional careers and family life, we are passionate about helping families facing the devastating loss of a child. We provide Memory Boxes to families who lose a baby of any gestation or a child up to the age of 18, regardless of the cause of death. These boxes are distributed through hospitals, funeral homes, and directly to families.

We also supply miscarriage memory bags to early pregnancy units and emergency departments, and offer free education sessions to hospital staff to help them better support bereaved families.

Recognising the broader need for compassionate support, we have recently expanded our services to include families experiencing the death of an adult—particularly where children are involved. We work closely with palliative care teams in hospitals and the community to ensure these families receive Memory Boxes that honour their loved ones and provide comfort during an incredibly difficult time.
