Embark Center for Self-Directed Education
Embark Center is a self-directed, democratically run microschool for ages 10–18 in historic downtown Leesburg, Virginia.
Just as some schools specialize in the arts, sciences, or college preparation, Embark Center specializes in the mastery of transferable skills, including self-direction, executive functioning, emotional intelligence, communication, collaboration, and critical thinking. These competencies support long-term success in college, the workplace, and adult life.
Students shape their own learning through meaningful projects, real-world experiences, and mentorship within a small, relationship-centered community. Academic learning is available and supported when it serves a student’s goals, and becomes especially powerful when engaged with purpose and choice.
Monday–Thursday | 9:00 AM–3:30 PM
