TRUSS ME FILMS
Playwright | Filmmaker | Director | Producer | Creative Visionary
Demetrius Truss is a Milwaukee-based storyteller whose work boldly blends faith, humanity, and raw emotional truth. As the founder of Truss Me Films, Demetrius has spent nearly two decades creating impactful stage plays, award-winning short films, and digital content that speaks directly to the heart of the community.
His creative journey began with a powerful catalogue of stage productions, including Keep the Faith, Another Chance, Forgive Me, Through the Hurt and Pain, and the acclaimed play Picking Up the Broken Pieces. Each work reflects his unique ability to merge entertainment with healing, humor with honesty, and real-life issues with spiritual depth.
Demetrius expanded his artistry into film with the award-winning short Break Free, a compelling exploration of mental health within the Black community. The film screened at multiple festivals and further established him as a filmmaker committed to telling stories that matter.
He also hosts the podcast “Let’s Get Uncomfortable,” a candid space where he unpacks relationships, mental health, faith, and the everyday realities people are often afraid to say out loud. His voice is known for being transparent, thought-provoking, and deeply relatable.
After more than 15 years since his last original stage play, Demetrius returns to the stage with HEAL — an emotionally charged story about grief, truth, self-worth, and the courage to stop pretending. The production marks a powerful new chapter in his creative evolution and reaffirms his calling to create art that transforms, inspires, and brings people together.
Demetrius continues to use his gifts to uplift voices, challenge perspectives, and build spaces where healing and storytelling meet. His mission remains simple: to bring vision to life and remind audiences that restoration is always possible.
