Dr. Sindhu Saraswathy
Dr Saraswathy is an artist, researcher, and author whose work bridges studio practice and art history. Through her books 'Ajanta Unfolded-flora fauna and figures' and 'The Third Dimension in Ajanta ,breating space into flatness' she explores the forgotten visual intelligence of India’s ancient painters — their mastery of line (rekhā), sthana, shading (vartana), illumination (ujjotana), and spatial perception (kṣaya-vṛddhi).
Attuned to both traditional techniques and modern visual theory, her teaching connects the painter’s hand with the philosopher’s vision — revealing how the Ajanta masters created depth, light, and emotion 2000 years before Renaissance and its theories.
Her workshops invite participants to see as the ancient painter saw: through the living movement of line, colour, and consciousness.
