National Parks Association of Queensland Inc
National Parks Association of Queensland (NPAQ) is an independent, not-for-profit, membership-based organisation, and is the longest running National Park Association in Australia. Established in 1930, (NPAQ) has played a pivotal role in the creation of many national parks in Queensland. We bring together people who share an appreciation for protected areas and the vital role they play in conserving our unique and splendid natural environment.
NPAQ advocates for the protection, expansion, effective management and presentation of national parks. We celebrate getting kids out into our parks and reserves and operate Junior Ranger and Cadet Ranger programs in collaboration with Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) gateway visitor centres – David Fleay Wildlife Park and Walkabout Creek Discovery Centre. Our Parks Connect program also includes Volunteer Ranger and Campground Host programs for adults, and Park of the Month events. NPAQ also offers bushwalking, birdwatching and other outdoor recreation activities and opportunities to participate in community conservation and citizen science projects. We support the development and application of scientific and professional knowledge in advancing national parks, protected areas and nature conservation.
