On Our Stage

Community stands as a cornerstone for Hideaway PAC. Within our community are two families, the Lucey family in Leesburg and the Quinlan family in Sorrento, committed to uniting Lake County's arts community. Our stage will feature a diverse season of plays and musicals, showcasing performances not found elsewhere. Yet, our ambitions reach further: from youth drama, concerts, comedy shows, and improv competitions to dance performances and even puppetry! If it can grace our stage, we're prepared to bring it to life!You will find a warm and welcoming aspect to both families, with a strong desire to bring inclusion and a smiling face to your theatre adventure. Below you will find a bit more in-depth background and history on these two local families.The Quinlan FamilyJim Quinlan was born and raised in New England and received his BA in Theatre from the University of Richmond. After training in Boston, NYC, and DC, Jim briefly moved to Orlando in 1998 to perform for Walt Disney World before giving it up for a career in Corporate Learning and Development. In December 2019, Jim decided he was tired of putting aside his dream and opened Something New Studio. With the support of his wife Kristy, son Alex, and daughter Kylie, Something New Studio has become a staple of the Eustis community. Something New is well known across Lake County for its unique approach to youth theatre and all across Central Florida for its professional travelling Murder Mystery shows. Both Kristy and Kylie have been strong, supportive drivers while simultaneously becoming part of the cast and crew at various times. Kristy has been known to operate the mixing board, keeping the microphones at bay. Kylie has been both an actor and director under Jim's tutelage.The Lucey FamilyOriginally from upstate New York, John briefly pursued his dream of becoming an actor, enrolling in college courses to kickstart his journey. However, he soon realized college wasn't his path and enlisted in the Army. Following his service, John settled in Central Florida and promptly sought opportunities at a local theater. He found his place at the Garden Theatre in Winter Garden, FL., as an asst. technician for several years. It does not end there, his wife Michelle was involved in the production of "Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat" serving as the costume mistress and backstage assistant, children's cast wrangler. Part of that children's cast consisted of his daughter, Madison, who was featured in the children's choir for the production. Today, Madison is serving in the U.S. Navy and has passed the baton to her younger sister. Rebekah started with Something New Studio last year in the production of Les Misérables. She continues to study as part of the cast and crew at Something New Studio. There is one son in the family, John Paul III. John Paul was never bitten by the theatre bug, but he does help out at Hideaway Performing Arts Center when his father drags him in.
