About this event
For 21 years, summer in Leuven is synonymous with our Zomer van Sint-Pieter festival. The successful formula remains intact after all these years: you can enjoy classical masterpieces, surprising compositions and many star performers.
The Performance: François Joubert-Caillet / viola da gamba & TRINITY BOYS CHOIR
In the era of Elizabeth I, the music onboard ships was astonishingly versatile. Drinking arias alternated with psalms and madrigals, as captains were gentlemen and requested a certain ethical and spiritual standing. From pieces for solo violin to comical arias, from the joy of conquest to homesickness, from religious faith to saucy tunes: this concert offers us a glimpse of a relatively unknown aspect of 16th century music.
We will meet outside of 30CC/Schouwburg (Bondgenotenlaan 21) at a few minutes before 12:00 and head inside around 12:00.
