Material Passport as the key to circularity and innovative financing structures in real estate
Johan Klaps, Director Madaster Belgium & Erik Van den Broeck, Partner BDO Belgium, Head of Real Estate & Construction
How can digitisation of your building in a digital twin or material passport contribute to its circularity? How do financial institutions look at new models of financing real estate and infrastructure? What are the key success factors to realise building as a service and financing of second-hand materials? What is the impact of energy efficiency to the value of a building? Does a circular approach lead to more opportunities for affordable housing or catching up with the energy transition? What role does Madaster play in this and at what pace do European and local regulations follow? In this presentation, two experts in the field of material passport and financing discuss the future of construction financing.
Cordeel goes green: examples of circular innovations
Edouard De Bruyne - Sales & Account Manager C-Innovation by CORDEEL
Cordeel is aware of the socially responsible role they must play as contractor. More than 60% of their CO2 emissions are related to the materials they use. The circular economy offers solutions to reduce that impact. For the construction sector, this means, among other things, reuse and maximum high-quality recycling of building materials; focusing on change-oriented construction; the optimal use of space; and extending the lifespan of buildings and their materials.
Forbo Flooring Systems and Circularity in the built environment; challenges and solutions
Willem Burmanje - Director Strategic Communication at Forbo Flooring Systems
The buzz word ‘circularity’ all too often is illustrated with nice examples of how products and processes have been improved. The real story of changing a linear process into one that really goes full circle is very different and requires years to accomplish. At Forbo Flooring Systems we have embarked on a journey that is transparent and has a clear vision on what we want to achieve and how we are going to realize this, taking all the steps that are required.
Boarding on our net-zero journey
Bart Daneels - CEO Holcim Belgium
Holcim is the first company in its sector with net-zero targets for 2030 and 2050 validated by SBTi. What are the steps we take? How does this journey translate to help you build in a more sustainable way in Belgium? Many levers are already in place today, other great leaps are still to come. We'd like to take you with us on our journey.
Circularity: more than linear in a circular jacket!
Joep Roemgens – Head of engineering Schüco
After sustainability it's now the turn of circularity: a term that is already being used too often in the wrong context, and greenwashing is unfortunately also commonplace. Find out how Schüco strives to be a pioneer of effective sustainability in the building sector and in doing so, challenges and activates not only themselves, but also others!
