Exhibition Walter Leblanc - Keisuke Matsuura: Resonance

Event description
A dialogue between Belgian artist Walter Leblanc and Japanese artist Keisuke Matsuura

About this Event

For our very first in-house curatorial project, we gave Japanese artist Keisuke Matsuura carte blanche to imagine a conversation between his works and works of Walter Leblanc selected from the Foundation's collection on the theme of natural energy fields. A new immersive installation has been created to mark the occasion and can be experienced in the Foundation’s garden.

Walter Leblanc (Antwerp 1932 – Silly 1986) is an important representative of the kinetic and optical art movements. Within the international network of the Nouvelle Tendance, ZERO, concrete art and (neo)constructivism, he gained both national and international recognition.

Keisuke Matsuura (Kyoto 1970) studied at Tama Art University in Tokyo and then studied with Christian Megert and Daniel Buren at the Düsseldorf Academy. During a trip to Europe, he discovered the artists of the ZERO movement whose spirit would mark him and influence his future research. Inspired also by Walter Leblanc, his work lends itself particularly to this dialogue between two generations.
