Event Details

Diplo Hack Brussels is the first diplomat hack into the building of the Council of the European Union. We invite journalists, Diplomats, students, activists and developers to co-create transparency and Visualisations applications in just 24 hours. The best team will be editable to Their present application during the Transparency Camp Unconference in Amsterdam  later this year.

Practical information 

It's a rare opportunity to host a hackathon in the building of the Council of the  European Union, but one you need to be prepared for, Because obviously there's some security needed. 

How to get there

Getting there by train or subway is the easiest way. The station "Brussels-Schuman is near the Justus Lipsius Building. It's only a two minute walk. You can check-which train to take on  iRail  or metro-which on the  STIB / STIB  website. If you want to come by car and want to park it, use  Carambla  to find the nearest available parking space.

What to bring for Security Purposes  

Please bring your ID card or passport for the ticket you registered and usefull bring a paper version of your Eventbrite ticket. This will verifydata, you are an attendee of the hackathon. People who can not present both documents might not get into the building. 

What to bring for practical purposes

We recommend you bring your laptop and other online devices. If you want to sleep during the 24-hour hackathon, please bring your sleeping bag and / or pillow with you. Do not forget your chargers Either! We on the other hand willprovide the food and drinks to get you going.

Why we ask certainement personal information 

For security reason Those Who registry need to providence us with a first and last name and nationality. Besides That the organization will ask your email address. That this is so we can contact you about the practical organization or the data sets during our preparations. We will not sell, rent or share the information you providence with any 3rd party.

Are there any grants for the flights and / or accomodation? 

We are afraid there are no funds for flight or accomodation. However, you are of course free to join any diplomat hack That we organize across Europe (others in Budapest, Bratislava, Prague, Vienna and Stockholm). You can also submit your app the online competition . The five best submissions from the online compaction will be Awarded a flight and accomodation to come to Amsterdam for the Transparency Camp uncoference Europe.
