Overview

The Creative Ring is a new, European-wide, technology supported experimental community for artists, creative talents and stakeholders working in the Creative Industries. It aims to build a sustainable network of Creative Hubs, Smart and Creative Cities, innovating SMEs and technology partners, in order to

• Provide a cross-hub and cross-country service offering of joint events and activities, allowing for faster innovation and market take-up
• Set up a marketplace for tools and services developed by SMEs and technology partners for the Creative Industries
• Enable internationalization: reaching new markets and audiences for CI products, services and performances; governance to support cross-hub and cross-country relationships;
• Advocate and communicate on the interests of CI members

The Creative Ring concept is being developed through the SPECIFI (CIP, www.specifi.eu) and CREATIFI (FI-PPP, www.creatifi.eu) projects, and was first launched in April 2014. After a successful first workshop in Barcelona in June 2015, in which about ten interested cities participated, a more concrete idea on the purpose and value of the Creative Ring for its different stakeholders has been formulated.

At the Barcelona Smart City Expo and World Congress, our objective is to present and discuss these plans with an audience of SMEs, cities, hubs and technology providers, and to hear from some key stakeholders what the Creative Ring can mean for them.

Also, a CREATIFI showcase of promising tools and services in front of an expert jury will be organized, and the workshop will be concluded by awarding players of the Athens Playground Expo Edition game (https://www.athensplayground.gr/index.html) organised by SPECIFI during the Smart City Expo.
