Event description
Workshop Bioplastics from food 'waste' (online)

About this Event

Learn to make bioplastics in your own kitchen!

As humanity is becoming more and more aware of its pollution problems, it's about time we think of real solutions and alternatives for our current plastic usage. And what better inspiration can we get than from nature itself? What if we could co-design our future materials together with the biological elements surrounding us already? In this workshop Ana Lisa Alperovich from Design Academy Eindhoven will take you on a crash course on biomaterials for your own future projects.

Practical info

An intensive, one-day, hands-on online workshop to make bioplastics at home by recycling your own food 'waste'. Following a 'research through making' technique, you will explore and experiment with overlooked bio-based resources, and learn the possibilities of making your own (vegan) bioplastics to include in your own practice or to spark up new ideas for biodesign and -art.

What do you get?

You will learn how to make bioplastics, their pros and cons, experiment, try out ideas, have fun and learn more about the field of biomaterials and recycling. You will get a better understanding of the problem and the opportunities of the food 'waste' and plastic pollution problems and are invited to stretch the possibilities while engaging creatively with your surroundings and others. You'll be introduced into a community working on new biomaterials, bioplastics and an Archive.

You will get a manual on the best ways of collecting and preserving your 'waste', together with some other instructions.

A GLIMPS.bio surprise package will be sent to you before the workshop with essential supplies and ingredients, along with some other, bio-based goodies and drinks.
